This poem is written by Edward Lear. It is a humorous poem and describes the conversation between a duck and a kangaroo. The duck and the kangaroo are very good friends. The duck being fascinated by the kangaroo’s hopping wishes if he could also hop. He also wishes to get out of the pond and see the whole world. The duck thus requests the kangaroo to take him on his back for a world tour. The kangaroo asks if he could sit still at the end of his tail because it is important for him to make a balance. The duck agrees to this condition and promises to sit still. Another major concern of the kangaroo is the damp and cold feet of the duck. He was scared of rheumatism. The duck resolves this concern of the kangaroo by saying that he has bought four pairs of woolen socks to cover his feet. He also says that he has also bought a cloak and cigar which will keep him warm. The kangaroo thus agrees to take the duck for a world tour. Both friends have a wonderful journey.

The Duck was feeling bored there in her pond. She wanted to see the world beyond. She requested the Kangaroo to let her ride on his back. She promised to sit still and silent on his tail-end. She also bought woollen socks and smoked cigar to keep her body warm. The two toured the world happily. Question 2: What conditions did the Kangaroo lay down for giving his friend a ride?
